Euroblog #2: Excess

Who's the king of excess? Here's a hint . . . He once was quoted as saying, "I'm a firm believer that there's no su.cess without excess." Bernie Madoff? So NOT where I was going!   I'm talking about Ca-VA-lli, dahling!

While in Paris, we HAD to catch Roberto Cavalli's new flagship digs on Rue Saint Honore at Cambon. After all, he dared to open it at a time when others are retreating, surrendering and generally hunkering down . . . and indeed the final version is purported to be less lavish than originally intended . . . Ooh la la! Check out the view from the third floor down the crystal column!

It was comforting to see that the Miracle Rue wasn't peppered with 70% off signs; most everything was sitting at a very dignified full price (unlike the designer blood bath that was Robertson Boulevard the last time we shopped L.A.)

The vibe is very nooks and crannies with a bit of shiny surfaces and touches of futurama . . . Definitely a destination shop vs. browse and go (except for us, of course) . . . The folks who bothered to come in, did so with intent; jogging up the stairs and disappearing into little rooms.
